XIII - prison break

Here is a better prison outfit photo, and also just a photo that I like.

By the way, if you don't comment I don't know if you are checking the site or not. Slackers!

XII - solids

Hayden has had a couple of tries eating solids, but until now has been unable to co-ordinate the whole putting the food in the mouth and swallowing. He is lucky that Auntie Nat usually leaves a piece of pumpkin on her plate at the end of Sunday roast, so that can be mashed up for him to try. When Hayden went shopping with mum this afternoon he was eating the shopping list so we tried him again tonight. He actually ate quite a bit tonight instead of just pushing it out, trying to suck. He even shared Auntie Kim's dessert with her. Look out scales.

XI - ferry, reading and Aunt Trace

While Dad was on school holidays we also went on an adventure to Sorrento. We caught the ferry across, Hayden's first sailing adventure. (D'oh, we should have had him dressed in his pirate outfit. )

Hayden has also been busy practising his reading

And, having brekky and swimming with Auntie Trace while she was visiting.

X - big boy and beach

Well it has been a while so there is a bit to update. The little boy is being very naughty. He is not listening to Uncle David, and is growing bigger every day. Yesterday we were in a shop in Torquay and Dad wanted to buy Hayden a new jumpsuit. He picked out a size 00. Mum said, "No way Dad. It might fit him right now, but it won't next week!" We got him a different pair, and now he looks like he should star on Prison Break.

Last Monday, the first day of school holidays, we went for a picnic at the beach. Hayden was wearing his new sunhat from Auntie Bev. Wasn't quite warm enough for a swim!!

More updates on Sunday.

IX - knitting

Hayden has been very lucky the last couple of weeks. Grandma has dusted off the knitting needles, and has been busy making jumpers for him. She has managed 3 jumpers in under two weeks. This is jumper number 2. I will put the other ones on when I have a decent photo of them.

VIII - aSPIRE to new heights!

Hayden's latest adventure was climbing up the main spire of St Paul's cathedral on a brisk Melbourne morning. Assisted by his Uncle Daryl he was able to see the city of Melbourne from a bird's eye view. A view few other people have ever, or will ever experience. Lucky boy!

VII - feet

Shortly after Hayden found his tongue, he also found his toes. It makes nappy changes interesting as he doesn't like letting go of them once he's got them. Last night he also started sucking his big toe so it will be interesting to see if that continues.

VI - the godfather

You'd better get home quick boy boy. Hayden is telling all of his secrets to his other godfather!

V - jolly jumper

On Sunday Hayden finally got to play in a jolly jumper.

He didn't like being strapped in, but oh what fun to stand up with nobody helping!
He has been having another play today. He started by checking out what it was that he was hooked up in...a future engineer perhaps???

Then he started to get the hang of it.

IV - tongue

On Friday Hayden found his tongue. He spent all day poking it out at people!

Progress report

Hayden had his 4 month check up yesterday (a few days early), and was a star as usual. His official measurements are now;

23/05/06 7.45 kg 65.5cm

Unofficially, I think that he is a bit taller than that. Grandma and I measured him again today and we would give him another 1.5-2 cm. Anyway, here is a picture so that you can decide how tall he is for youselves!

He is also in the 90th percentile, which means that he is bigger than 90 percent of his peers.

The Beginning

Hayden Maxwell Gilbert was born at 12.02 or 12.08am (take your pick!) on Thursday 26th January, 2006, making him the first baby born in Geelong for Australia Day 2006. Hayden was a p3 pin-up boy at the grand old age of 1 day old! At birth Hayden weighed a whopping 10lb 12oz or 4.875kg.

'Hayden' itself came out of the blue shortly after his arrival and is simply a name that his mum and dad liked. 'Maxwell' is taken from his grandfather (mum's side), and his great grandfather (dad's side). 'Gilbert' is carried on from dad's paternal side of the family.

With the saying keep your friends close and your enemies closer in mind, Hayden's two uncles (the people most likely to lead him astray in the future) were declared godfathers and now bear some of the responsibility for Hayden's wellbeing!

Hayden's Progress

Date Age Weight Length/Height

26/01/06 0 4.875 kg 54 cm
03/02/06 1 wk 5.020 kg
10/02/06 2 wks 5.170 kg 59 cm
22/02/06 4 wks 5.660 kg 60 cm
27/03/06 8 wks 6.590 kg 63.5 cm

His next weigh in will be on the 23/05/06 and the results will be posted shortly after that.
